S-O-A-K-E-D in the Presence of God by Bryan Holland

CFOI Vice President, Bryan Holland and his wife Nancy have served CFO North America and CFO International in so many ways… from song leaders, rhythms/DIM leaders, speaking leaders, officer roles, CFOI trainers, and more! We are thankful for their many contributions to the CFO movement and we hope you are blessed by this prayer reflection.

Have you ever been caught in a rain storm and got drenched to the bone before you were able to find cover? Everything was soaking wet on you. I was lying in bed one night, unable to sleep and the Lord gave me this acrostic: SOAKED. You need to be SOAKED in my presence at all times. Just like being soaked to the bone in a rain storm, I want you to be soaked in Me, thoroughly. What does that mean, I thought? He said…

S is for self-get yourself out of the way. Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of self ambition or vain conceit but in humility, consider others better than yourself.” Get yourself out of the way, He said.

O is for only Him. In Luke 10:27, the Lord says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself.” So, only Him;

A is for ALL of Him. He said (see Luke 10:27 again) ALL of Me.

K is for knowing Him. 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  We can never know enough about Him. I once heard of a guy who had engraved on his tombstone “he died learning.” May we strive to keep learning about Him.

E is for edify Him. Psalm 103:1-2 “Praise the Lord, o my soul, all my innermost being praise His holy name…. and forget not all His benefits.” We need to edify Him, give Him glory in all things.

D is depend upon Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your pathsstraight.” We need to be totally dependent on Him; He gives us life and breath and looks out for our best well-being.

Yes, with this recent pandemic the Lord has gotten our attention. He wants us to be SOAKED in Him so He can work His best in us, through us, and for us. Let’s be soaked in Him. As we say in our 9 o’clock prayer, “let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” I would add, being soaked in Him.
